I’m “E” and my husband is “C”. We LOVE to cook together but depending on work schedules, don’t always get the chance. That’s why the writing goes in and out and back and forth from “I” and “we”, sometimes even in a single post.
We are the Crazy Dog People as you’ll see through the posts. Up until about a year ago we had two beautiful rescue pups- Sahara and Bella. Sahara passed away but we think about her every day. Bella is pretty much as spoiled as they come. But, she deserves every bit of it.
Movement, exercise, working out… we love it! It helps us physically and mentally! I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t always that way for me. But, I fell in love. It is a priority of ours- a non-negotiable if you will. It’s not something we try to fit in, it is part of our schedule. Luckily for C, he gets to do a lot of it at work. I alternate between before or after work.
Why the positivity?? We have generally always tried to look at the bright side of things. But, as you grow and go through life you learn you have control over your emotions. You can either let things make you a miserable sh$% or choose to focus on gratitude and keep smiling. It has become a big factor in our lives, a major part of who we are as individuals and a couple.
Back to the food… we love cooking and obviously eating. Again, it is a good thing we like to work out! We often visit several different stores when planning our meals. Never mind the brainstorming to come up with what we are going to make in the first place! But, it is a passion of ours and more importantly we do it together. We try to eat healthy during the week and we definitely enjoy the weekends (70/30 rule, 70% good, 30% bad). That doesn’t mean that the weeknight meals aren’t good though. They are filled with mostly fresh veggies and other quality ingredients. That also doesn’t necessarily mean we are eating processed garbage on the weekends. Even when we cook and indulge, we are usually eating whole foods (of course we are not perfect!). Yeah, we have our share of burgers, but they are usually grass-fed. Obviously, we love our pizza, but we use fresh cheese and other good ingredients not “fake” cheese or meats. For our recipes, we don’t really like measuring ingredients out (that’s why we really don’t bake!) so we try to give you a rough idea of what’s going in there and hope the pictures help. We like to taste as we go and just see what works! That’s what makes cooking fun. It is an expression of yourself and what you want to put on a plate!
Thanks for stopping by! It means a lot you took the time to read and we especially love when you come back! Let us know if you have any questions or suggestions!
